The light within...Martinmas

We've always had this picture up in the house...I suppose I have always loved this old angel art & now my kids do too... I love babies and this kind of art always reminds me of their strong connection to the heavenly realms...
Chickweed patch, feeling so lucky to be feasting on fresh greens near mid November.

We have been working on our pigs, carving, sanding, oiling & playing... Can you guess which fairytale we are telling this week?

Always a pot of chai a'brew on the stove...so perfect this time of year & a great coffee replacement.  My recipe is pretty much chopped coins of ginger, and intuitive pinchings of cardamom, nutmeg, cloves, peppercorns, fennel, cinnamon, star anise...brewed up then served with a splash of cream & a dip of honey...black tea added earlier in the day.

Our Martinmas lantern walk was a beautiful night.  I performed the story of St. Martin with the wool figures we made, the lyre strumming, all under a beautiful light and serene ambiance...then we lit the lanterns we had made, and walk the the lantern lit path through the garden, singing our lantern songs (http://mamanaturesson.blogspot.com/).  After we had a bonfire & snacks & fellowship.  The children had so much fun even though the mood was vibrating high as opposed to the quiet stillness we expected of the festival.  11/14 of the children were boys 7 & under.  No wonder....
